Disasters are more destructive than physical consequences. People are still shocked by “Katrina” but more than the obvious it’s the external discussion about a bad government being slow, even Spike Lee made a documentary about it and the reactions out of the states are strong. Pakistan learned the lesson too late and the paid the price loosing East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
Barranquilla knew that, the day came, they saw a hurricane for the very first time, everybody forgot the hurricanes during the late 90’s just because this time the victims were on the north of the city. The events showed us the perfect place for the old rascals taking advantage of the situation but there was a miracle an the state was quick and effective. Any difference?
